June Lesson spotlight

This month we can’t wait to celebrate the first day of summer! Here are some lesson ideas to help you celebrate.

Early Elementary (K-2)

For Great Outdoors Month, use idea #12 in this book for inspiration for an art project. Students can make a collage with pictures they’ve snapped during a walk outside their school.

Upper Elementary (3-5)

World Oceans Day is June 8th, so try out activity #15 in this book to have students profile a marine biome. They can describe underwater creatures and plant life through audio and visual responses.

Middle School (6-8)

June is National Safety Month and you and your students can make a vocabulary reference book using strategy #11 in this book. Each student can collect words about being safe online for an independent or collaborative reference guide.

High School (9-12)

Try out activity #10 to have students collect questions after reading about the history of Flag Day (14 June). You can have students use the questions they collect to spark future research projects.

Book Creator Ambassador spotlight

This month’s spotlight features Book Creator Ambassador Monica Burns. Monica is a former classroom teacher and runs the edtech blog ClassTechTips.com.

Monica also runs professional development workshops for teachers and has created several of our free ebooks for teachers including 15 Science Projects for Book Creator Classrooms.

This spring, Monica launched a new podcast called Easy EdTech Podcast. She features tips for making EdTech simpler, including ways to use virtual walking tours and backchannels in the classroom.

You can find Monica’s podcast on any podcast app including Apple Podcasts, Google Play, and Spotify.

June Social Challenge

What’s your favorite social network? Whether you use InstagramFacebookTwitter, or Pinterest, there are lots of ways to share and gather ideas from social media.

For your chance to win a magnificent Book Creator mug, snap a picture of your own Book Creator ebook and add it to your Instagram stories.

Make sure to tag @BookCreatorApp and add the hashtag #BCchallenge so we can follow along and celebrate your digital books this summer!

Last month's winner was Alison Sowa, who shared her favourite Book Creator activity via Twitter.

Here are some of the other ideas shared in last month's challenge:
