Book Creator is the newest member of the NYSCATE Corporate Council for 2022-23.

The NYSCATE (New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education) Corporate Council was created in 2010, with the vision and mission of serving New York state educators. Book Creator is now one of a limited number of EdTech companies that have been carefully selected to join NYSCATE to support that vision.

Some of our favourite educators are from New York. We have worked with Dr. Monica Burns - @ClassTechTips (pictured) for many years on webinars, blog posts, ebooks, and more recently on our booth at ISTE.

We recently partnered with Laurie Guyon, Capital Region Director for NYSCATE to publish the NYSED Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards in Book Creator.

Kristina A. Holzweiss is also a prominent Book Creator Ambassador. She is the former Long Island Director for NYSCATE, and won the NYSCATE Lee Bryant Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award.

Kristina has authored some fantastic digital books including the Epic eBook of Web Tools & Apps(over 52,000 reads) and ‘A Digital Librarian's Survival Toolkit’ (over 33,000 reads). She also wrote a Book Creator Educator course which is available via the NYSCATE website.

On Book Creator joining NYSCATE, Kristina said:

"I always say that "it's all about the teach, not the tech," but the Book Creator edtech tool has truly made me a better educator. From crowdsourcing The Digital Librarian's Survival Toolkit and The Epic Ebook of Web Tools & Apps, to creating a high school orientation book for our incoming 9th graders, to working with our special education students with speech and language support through the many accessibility features—Book Creator is a tool that supports all students and educators. I'm so excited that Book Creator is now a member of the NYSCATE Corporate Council, and is committed to further serving NYS educators."

33,000+ Teachers using Book Creator
165,000+ Book Creator students
745,000+ books made

The statistics above show our usage in New York so far (not including usage for our iPad app). We work with some 350 districts across the state of New York as well as several BOCES, including Nassau, Capital Region, Western Suffolk and Monroe 2-Orleans. Even better, we’ve just been awarded a state wide ITCC Contract, so school districts can work through their BOCES or RIC for purchasing. We are Ed Law 2-d compliant and have also acheived COPPA and FERPA certification.

One of the big successes in New York was at Newburgh Enlarged City School District, where they deployed Book Creator district-wide to ensure continuous learning during the pandemic and beyond. They have used Book Creator across the curriculum at multiple grade levels. Read their story here.

Dan Amos, CEO and founder of Book Creator, said:

"We're thrilled to be joining the NYSCATE Corporate Council and building on the relationships that we've already established in the New York area. New York has traditionally been ahead of the game when it comes to using technology to transform education. We hope this is the start of a great relationship with NYSCATE and we look forward to seeing you at the next live conference in November!"
