AI in action: ideas for different subjects
Generative AI is more than just a fun tool—it’s a powerful way to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and creativity. By integrating Adobe Express Generative AI into Book Creator, we’re providing students with a unique opportunity to bring their ideas to life through AI-generated visuals. Here are some content specific ideas we can’t wait for you to put into action.
Language arts
Design a book cover: Have students design book covers that represent their story’s theme, setting, and main ideas. This helps them think about how images, fonts, and colors set the mood and genre.
Writing clear AI prompts also strengthens their descriptive writing and storytelling skills by connecting words to visuals. Sharing their work and giving feedback teaches them to analyze and improve their designs, just like real creators do.

Example Prompt: "A futuristic city skyline with neon lights and a flying car."
Illustrate a Scene from a Book: Students bring their favorite book scenes to life with AI-generated illustrations, helping them practice descriptive writing, analyze text, and interpret visuals. This strengthens reading comprehension by focusing on key details like setting, mood, and character actions.
Writing detailed AI prompts improves their ability to turn words into images, reinforcing the link between storytelling and visuals. Comparing their generated images to the original text sparks critical thinking and discussions about interpretation, the author's intent, and artistic choices.

Example Prompt: "A small wooden house in a snowy forest at night, glowing with warm light."
Create a storybook character: Students explore character analysis, creative writing, and visual storytelling by describing book characters and generating images that reflect their traits, emotions, and settings. This helps them infer how an author’s words—both direct and indirect—shape a character’s look and personality.
Writing detailed AI prompts sharpens their descriptive writing, perspective-taking, and language precision. Comparing their AI-generated images to the text encourages critical thinking and discussions on author choices, representation, and the connection between words and visuals.

Example Prompt: "A curious 10-year-old girl with curly hair, wearing a green hoodie, standing in a magical forest."
Social studies
Design a cultural poster: Students design AI-generated images to showcase cultural celebrations, helping them learn about different traditions, customs, and their historical significance.
This activity builds research skills, critical thinking, and visual literacy as they explore cultural symbols, traditional attire, and key aspects of each celebration. Writing detailed AI prompts strengthens their descriptive writing while sparking meaningful discussions about global diversity and representation.

Example Prompt: "A vibrant Indian festival with people in colorful saris making rangoli."
Create a timeline of events: Students strengthen historical thinking, chronological reasoning, and visual literacy by using AI-generated illustrations to bring key historical moments to life. They research significant events, analyze cause-and-effect relationships, and identify essential details to understand historical context.
Writing precise AI prompts helps them practice descriptive writing and source evaluation, ensuring accuracy in their visuals. Creating a timeline reinforces sequencing and time-based understanding, while discussions on how history is visually represented encourage critical thinking about bias, interpretation, and perspective.

Example Prompt: "The signing of the Declaration of Independence with Founding Fathers gathered around a table."
STEM
Visualize an ecosystem: Students explore scientific inquiry and environmental literacy by creating AI-generated images of ecosystems. They research biomes, plants, animals, and ecological relationships, reinforcing concepts like food webs, biodiversity, and adaptation.
Writing AI prompts helps them practice precise scientific communication by including details about climate, species interactions, and geography. Comparing their images to real ecosystems promotes critical thinking about accuracy, while discussions on human impact and conservation connect their learning to global environmental issues.

Example Prompt: "A coral reef with colorful fish, sea turtles, and clear blue water."
Visualize an invention: Students explore engineering design, problem-solving, and creativity by using AI-generated images to design futuristic inventions. This activity reinforces STEM concepts, technology, and entrepreneurship, encouraging them to think critically about how innovations solve real-world problems.
Writing detailed AI prompts helps students practice technical writing and clear communication, ensuring their invention’s purpose, materials, and functionality are well-defined. This activity also sparks discussions on ethics in technology, sustainability, and the impact of innovation on society, helping them develop a forward-thinking mindset about the future.

Example Prompt: "A solar-powered flying car with sleek aerodynamic wings."
Create a symmetrical design: Students explore geometric reasoning, pattern recognition, and artistic expression by using AI-generated designs to study symmetry. This activity helps them understand reflection, rotation, and translation in symmetry, showing how these concepts appear in nature, art, and architecture.
Writing precise AI prompts strengthens their spatial awareness and mathematical communication, ensuring their designs follow symmetry rules while allowing for creativity. Comparing AI-generated patterns with real-world examples encourages critical thinking about mathematical structures and helps students connect geometry to everyday life.

Example Prompt "A butterfly with symmetrical wings in blue and yellow."
